Another Sunday in Isaan. Got some work done on the restaurant and house.

The restaurant was busy today but Ning still found time to work with Phai to make new curtains to hang in the opening between the wall and the new room on the restaurant. When the sun is setting we can block it now. Also got the wall painted and touched up the paint inside our house. It rained hard several times today and the new gutters worked perfect.

Our new mattress is 1,000% better than the old one. I slept well and almost no back pain this morning. Also took a one hour nap before lunch. What a difference. Should make the rest of the stay much better. We are in for a very hot week (high 90’s to 100) so I sure am happy about the air conditioner.

Also we had a friend of son in laws visit on Saturday and he brought his wife. She was very pretty so I asked her if I could take her portrait and she agreed. I am posting it below. I want to do more portrait photography so I need to work on how to best shoot portraits.

Our very pretty visitor.

Another pretty visitor. At least I think so. Found out Ning is scared to death of caterpillars. That really shocks me because she has no problem picking up frogs. This guy was about 2 inches long. I had to remove him from the plant in the restaurant and relocate him to the back yard.

Phai sews while Ning supervises. This is at Phai’s sister house. Phai actually had some training as a seamstress and is very good.

The curtains are hung and Ning puts the finishing touches on the paint on the wall.

Son in law also got the pictures of the King and Queen hung on our living room wall with photos of myself and Phai underneath. Photos of the Royal Family must always be mounted higher than any other photos. Our photos have glass in the frame and I couldn’t get rid of the glare from the glass.

I had my first communication with my daughter Alexis since the category 5 hurricane devastated Vanuatu. Their village was spared any extensive damage and she and her husband are in the capital on another island for a meeting which gives them internet access. Her husband Steve used the time to upload a lot of photos taken in their village.

Alexis served as a bridesmaid for a wedding. That is a real honor for her to be so accepted by the people of the village. In case you are wondering, yes I am a proud father.
