Phai's teeth are all set. I took a pass.

Another nice, overcast cool day. Son in law drove us to Nong Bua Lamphu about 11:30 am to go the dentist. Our two youngest grand daughters By and Fa Mai came also. We went to the same clinic were at on Thursday. Phai had accidentally left her Thai ID card there last visit and I had decided I would not get my teeth capped but I wanted her to get hers taken care of. She has had some sensitivity in several teeth for awhile now. The clinic waiting area was packed (probably 15 people) and when Phai went to the desk and asked about her ID card the woman was rude. Told her first she didn't have it and when Phai insisted she check she told us to go sit down and wait. After about five minutes she found Phai's ID and called her over to the desk. Phai took the card and we walked out. Phai was angry at how she was treated. We walked to the truck where son in law and the grandkids were waiting. She explained what happened and he said he would look for another clinic. He started driving around the town looking for clinics. We passed one that did not look crowded so he parked and we went in. They were really nice and Phai spoke to another couple  who were just leaving and they were very happy with the dentist. We only had one ahead of us and ten minutes later she was in the dentist chair. It was a female dentist and they invited me to come sit in the room while Phai got her teeth fixed. Turns out she had four cavities that needed filling. She  was very good and even re-cleaned Phai's teeth saying the other clinic did not do a good job. So in about thirty minutes including the wait time we were out. The total bill for four fillings and a cleaning was 1,650 baht which equals $52. That is why you don't need dental insurance here. I decided that since my two broken teeth were in the back of my mouth and have been broken for several years so they could wait. It may be there isn't enough tooth left to cap anyway and I will end up just having them extracted if they ever do give me pain.

I almost forgot to mention. I didn't think too much about it when we took off our shoes to enter the dental clinic since there were other shoes outside and I am so used to removing them most places. But I chuckled to myself when I sat on a short stool while they worked on Phai and looked down and the dentist and both assistants were barefoot. Also there was a falang waiting outside for his family to finish. Inside the clinic was his Thai wife, a young child that appeared to be theirs and what must be his daughter from a previous marriage to a falang. The daughter is probably twelve or thirteen and fluent in both Thai and English. It seemed funny to see a falang carry on a conversation in Thai and sound just like a native. I was jealous.

By now I was starving so we took the kids to the big Tesco Lotus in Nong Bua Lamphu. I went to the KFC by myself while Phai took the kids to play in the play area where they have all the kiddie rides. I ordered a chicken sandwich with fries and a Pepsi. The menu is all in Thai so I ordered by pointing at the picture. When I took my first bite I realized that what I ordered was their special spicy chicken sandwich. Once I got over the shock and drank some of my soda I actually enjoyed the sandwich. I guess I am getting used to Spicy food. I have been putting special hot sauce in my Ning soup everyday.

Of course I had to treat myself to a large Blizzard ice cream from Dairy Queen. I bought the largest one so I could share it with Phai but forgot she couldn't eat anything for four hours because of the dental work. I was a real trooper and made the sacrifice of eating it all myself. The Tesco Lotus was packed. Not only because it was Saturday but because a new Thai Movie was just released. It is a comedy with a famous Thai actor and all the kids wanted to see it. It looked like Saturday date day for Thai teens. I did check out the cost of going to a movie here. It is a really nice Cineplex with four screens. The cost for an adult is 90 Baht or $2.85 and for kids it is only 70 baht or $2.22. You can get two large popcorns and two large sodas for 240 baht which is $7.62. So two adults can go to a first run movie and each have a large popcorn and soda for a little over $13. Not bad considering a tickets to AMC in Brandon Florida are $11 each and I don't even want to guess what two large popcorns and two sodas would cost (it has been awhile since I saw a movie in a theatre in the states).

This is the hot sauce I put in my soup. I now add a pretty hefty amount and really like it.

Another sign advertising new houses and appealing to Falangs. I laughed because it almost looks like snow covered mountains in the background and there is no such thing in Thailand.

This is the cereal I eat every morning and I love it. Unfortunately it appears it is not for sale in the United States.
