Visited my farm and the market

Went to the farm this morning to check on the progress of the tractor doing the leveling . Almost complete. After the rains come (hopefully) he will come back and prepare the farm for planting rice. I have included a few photos from the farm below. The number of roosters at the farm is increasing as they test more of them for fighting skills. While is was very hot today at least there was some breeze. This evening just as we got ready to got the market on the motorcycle it started raining. We waited a few minutes, for it stop, went to the market and shortly after getting back home it started raining again. Good timing. Phai bought pork ribs at the market to cook for me for dinner and I ate a huge plate full along with the mandatory rice. They are so good. Only two days away from our trip to Bangkok and I am getting excited. I need a haircut and will probably get one in Bangkok unless we get a chance to go into the village tomorrow. It would be cheaper here but not expensive in Bangkok either.

By the way, it sure is nice to see how the entire family works together. Kids learn responsibility here. The thirteen year old washes all the clothes. We have a washing machine but she still has to presoak everything and then hang all the clothes out to dry. The younger ones fill the condiments and put them on the tables along with washing the tables and helping with other basic chores.

Since the restaurant had been closed for two days we had a lot of business today. I think people miss what they can't have. I put a photo below of one of the neighbors who has small gas containers in front of his house that use gravity feed to fill the motorbikes up with gas. Nice when you do not have to go all the way to a gas station. I don't think regulations would ever allow that in the states.

My step daughter is so thoughtful. As we came in from the farm on the motorbike we passed my son in law who was bringing soup to the farm for us because she was worried I would be hungry. He turned around and we our soup here at the restaurant. It is so good. Right now I can hear some thunder so hopefully we get some more rain tonight. It is cooler this evening.

Phai fills up the motorbike as the "gas Pump" at the neighbors house.

I am not sure he is happy being contained in the wicker enclosure.

My granddaughter Fa Mai relaxes in the shade.

She doesn't always pose correctly.

Phai, Fa Mai and Phai's brother in law Wheatnai walking across the field at the farm.
Notice that while it is 100 degrees they are wearing long sleeve shirts, long pants, etc to keep the sun off their skin.
